Movement BE: Stress

"Many of us feel stress and get overwhelmed not because we’re taking on too much, but because we’re taking on too little of what really strengthens us"

For many of us, stress is our constant companion. It can drive us to work harder. It constantly reminds us about our own life and what we think of it. Stress is also the body’s way of protecting you from threats. In this way, it helps us perform under pressure, protect ourselves from danger, even save our lives. However, when we stress constantly about daily tasks, it accumulates and has a very detrimental toll on our physical health.

In many ways, stress can drive us to insanity. Stress can come from attaching too many external factors such as money, job, school, social circles and relationship success to the way we look at ourselves. Of course, this doesn’t make any sense since we aren’t any of these things. We also stress over fear of being judged by others on these external factors. We are much more than that. We deserve much more than that.

Many times, stress is unnecessary and can be avoided by stepping back and reacquiring a better perspective. Sometimes all it takes is a few extended deep breaths – seriously, breathing is one of the most overlooked requirements of happiness. Meditation and exercising are just a couple other ways to relieve stress. Another great way to relieve stress is to remind yourself that it's all gonna be ok - we are all exactly where we were meant to be at this very moment and stressing out over it only makes it harder on you than it needs to be. All of us stress in one way or another, but it’s how we react to it that can have a huge impact on our happiness.
